Phononic crystals: Rotational modes
We developed a lumped model for rotational modes in phononic crystals. It reveals the origin of the rotation modes, and provides a simple understanding of the mechanism.
Overview
Details
Rotational modes in phononic crystals can be excited by shear waves. We started from the mass-spring description and developed a lumped model for rotational modes in phononic crystals. This model successfully
- reveals the origin of the rotation modes: finite size effect and divergence free
- provides a simple understanding of the mechanism
- predicts the dispersion relation
